Jaylynn Buchmelter was born in Wintersville, Ohio and attended Ashland University, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in 2017.
She began her composition career in 2018, studying with Dr. Stefan Swanson since 2020, and has since composed works for many ensembles such as orchestra, piano, woodwind quintet, and voice.
She also composed a soundtrack to a soon-to-be-released video game for the streaming platform Twitch in 2021, and is looking to continue her career writing film and video game scores.
An active performer as well, Jaylynn is in her fifth season playing trombone with the Stow Symphony Orchestra. She also plays principal trombone with the Suburban Symphony Orchestra and was a winner of the 2019 Suburban Soloist competition.
Additionally, Jaylynn has made recent appearances with the Wooster Symphony, Ashland Symphony Orchestra, Skatch Anderssen Big Band, Danjo Jazz Orchestra, and others.
She currently resides in Cuyahoga Falls with her cat, Carmen.
